Construction-Specific FAQs

How do "draws" actually work?

A draw is a partial release of your mortgage funds. Typically, there are 3 to 5 draws throughout a build. An inspector visits the site to verify the percentage of completion (e.g., 35% complete), and the lender releases the corresponding funds. Each lender has their process and policy around draws. We will provide you will all of that information to help you make an informed decision.

Can I get a construction mortgage if I'm doing the work myself (self-build)?

Self-builds are considered higher risk by traditional banks. However, we can often find alternative or private lenders who are comfortable with self-managed projects, provided there is a solid plan in place
